Friday, went to Alpha Course in the evening at Karen's. Always good food and good company. This time was special 'cause Pastor James made an appearance to answer questions we had about the church, the topic of discussion for this week's Alpha. Pastor James, as always, explains things so wonderfully and sparked many long-lasting discussions. Muchos respect for that guy... can't believe he's churchless now. Afterwards, a bunch of us stopped by Tim Horton's to hang out since Pam was back in town. Fun times.

Saturday, after a home worship team practise with.........myself! (more on that later)..... heheh... left to hang out with the old Bell HS friends for the day. We took a free tour of the Science & Technology museum in the afternoon, a place we all haven't been to since we were kids. Heheh, yay crazy kitchen! Went back to Kat's place for a bbq and games. Mmm.... bbq... I always love grilling up a bbq... darn short tongs, though... singed half my arm hair... haha. :P After the BBQ, we made the rounds of several games. Played everything from ping pong to pool to poker for the rest of the evening until like 2:30am. heheh. Fun fun fun... and nice to see old friends like Kat, Yayoi, and Sean again.

Sunday worship was interesting in that I had to lead worship by myself for the first time. Most of my team either couldn't make practise or couldn't play for Sunday so I decided I'd take care of it. I think it went well...I hope it went well... heheh... twas just me, a piano, and the congregation. I was hoping the quieter, more acoustic-piano feel (instead of the band sound) would inspire people to worship more intimately. I played mostly familiar songs and some piano-renditions of the more popular "band songs" like God of Wonders and Holy is the Lord... heheh, inspired by Steve Fee's work on 7:22. Anyways, hope it went ok and not too awkward for the congregation. Afterwards, had a great brunch with my parents at the Italian buffet on Carling Ave. off of March Road (next to Cora's). First went there with Sam and Wayne the previous Sunday and was quite impressed. LOTS of great food including all the breakfast essentials, salad bar, cold pasta bar, soups, roast beef, lamb, awesome potatoes, chicken wings, made-to-order waffles (with piles of fruit, syrup, and whipped cream), crepes (flambeed!), and omelettes, as well as a wide selection of cakes and fruit. I was so stuffed... check it out if ya get the chance, a great place!
To continue my eating binge... haha.... Monday was Wing Night! Went with a whole bunch of CCCO and OU friends for wings at Summerhays... one word: yum.
Yesterday, did some jamming and recording with Serena in the afternoon and then, after dinner, it was off to the band practise for the Love Ottawa event at 7:30pm. We ended up practising till 11:30pm!! I probably could have gone longer but my fingers couldn't... man did they hurt! Our set is over an hour long and we're doing like 14 songs! Anyways, we're doing a wide variety of songs, from rockers by Hillsong United to classics to some interesting arrangements of older church songs. I'm playing rhythm acoustic guitar for 'em and I'll get to sing lead vocals on a few songs... 4 I think... One Way, Grace Like Rain, Everyday, and Blessed Be Your Name. It's been a pleasure working with these guys... though many of the songs are still not exactly my "style"... but I guess it's fun to explore different styles of songs, right? Anyways, the Love Ottawa event for Kanata is taking place on Saturday, June 4th @ 9am-6pm at the Bridlewood Church of the Nazarene (corner of Stonehaven & Eagleson) near my house. Apparently, there will be a load of activities going on, from car washes to a free bqq. The point of the event is to lend a helping hand to people in the community so there will be many services offered, from yardwork to minor repairs, etc. Our band will be the last of 3 or 4 bands... we're kinda there to provide some live background music. We're scheduled to play at 3:45pm. So yeah, if anyone's free, come out and check us out! :D
