Alrighty... haven't blogged in a while! Work's been keeping me busy so finding free time where I'm not exhausted and just wanna vegetate has been hard. Heheh. But that should change by the end of this week. I'm quiting Canadian Tire! Woohoo! Working at CT457 has been exhausting to say the least... being on my feet 10-12 hours at a time with maybe a 30-60 min break in between, moving heavy objects like concrete mix and driveway sealant, climbing up ladders, climbing down ladders, getting to work early in the morning and leaving late at night, facing that darn screws&nuts aisle with many scratches on my hands as my only reward, juggling having tasks to do while serving customers on the floor while serving customers on the phone, and working weekends... ah yes, those weekends... I told 'em countless times that I won't work Sundays and they just HAD to schedule me in on most Sundays... grr.... so yeah, after they scheduled me this week for Sunday, I'm just gonna quit on Saturday. All in all, it's been good retail work experience I guess and I did learn a lot... for one, a bigger appreciation for retail jobs and retail businesses (who knew facing could be such a pain?!) as well as general information about hardware. But oh man, long hours and low pay are NOT a good motivation for giving your all every day... I definitely enjoyed my time in the Houseware department more than my current position in the Hardware department. I liked the people better there, the atmosphere, and, of course, my two aisles of electronics that I ruled over... whuhahahah. ;) Overall, the people there have been quite nice in both departments, management has been nice as well, if a little unreasonable at times. But I guess that's retail. The one thing I did enjoy was the customer service... being able to help customers find what they want, help them get the right tools for their projects, or able to give them an informed decision or solve problems was quite satisfying when done right... so yeah, I'll definitely miss that. I was lucky enough to not have too many "angry customers" or "difficult customers" during my time at CT... and most customers were nice and understanding, which was definitely good for me since I know NOTHING about hardware (I am NOT a handy guy, as many of you know).... Although, I must say I'm definitely a little handier now after working at CT. Just call me Tim the Toolman...*grunt grunt grunt* heheh... err.... not quite. Anyhoo, despite all this, I'm still thankful that God has blessed me with a job this summer... it may not have been the type of job that I wanted (ie. a desk job) but it was a job and I was able to pay off my summer course and some of my school costs for the upcoming year...plus it was relatively close to home. I think God really taught me humility and the value of hard work... and for that, I'm definitely thankful and grateful. :)

So now that I've got time, wanted to recap and post pics of a couple of cool events that has happened over the last few weeks.

Shannon's Cottage (last weekend):
Unfortunately, I had to join the Zoo Crew late 'cause I had to work on Friday and Saturday... but still, twas a fun Sunday at Camp Shanwise... as always! After Sunday service, I drove to her cottage in Lapasse... ah.... moi + Civic + gorgeous weather + window down + open country road + occasional nice lake scenery = absolutely enjoyable :) Anyhoo, got there in time for some swimming, canoeing, and some dinner. Fun times, as always.

Fenton & Mona's Wedding (this weekend):
A great wedding all-round! I was asked to help with the worship team and the performance song (w/ Candace) for the signing of the registry. With Friday off, I was finally able to do some chores and finish off a list of things I needed to do. Headed over to Dominion Chalmers United Church in the late afternoon for the wedding rehearsal, which was nice... All involved with the wedding then went to Chu Sing for dinner. I popped by CCCO for a bit to say hi... they were having a games night. Nice to see some of my CCCO friends that I haven't seen since my birthday! Heheh. After that... we were all exhausted when we had our 11:00pm practise at EACO with a couple of Toronto singers (who were really annoying me 'cause they were really anal and demanding for just singers joining our worship team at the last minute... :P but ah well). That didn't end till 1:30am and we had to be there at 9:00am the next morning at Dominion Chalmers United Church for setup and run-through. Coffee was definitely needed. Heheh. Saturday, the wedding went very well and I hope our music was satisfactory for the happy couple. Mona was so happy, she was beaming, and I was real happy for her! Fenton sang her a song as she walked down the aisle and then Mona chimed in at the end to form a duet... ahhh... soooooo cute!! :) *sigh*... wonder what my wedding will be like?...*daydream* heheh. Anyhoo, after a brief lunch and a much needed nap, it was off to the banquet at the Congress Centre. It was nice to see some old friends from EACO like Cecilia, Isaaac, and Sam again and it was nice to have many of our old EACO youth group members back together again and hanging out. Heheh, and yes, after a delicious dinner, our bunch could all be found on the dance floor. I tried my best not to make myself look TOO ridiculous out there...what do I know about dancing?!... heheh, but it was plenty of fun nonetheless. ;) All in all, a very fun evening and I wish Fenton & Mona the best!
