Well in recent days, I've been going car shopping with my parents. Our current Mercury Sable is getting old and approaching 200,000 km... and starting to experience problems... so we're looking into perhaps getting a new small car either this year or next. We figured a small, fuel-economic car would be a nice complement to the Impala. We've been looking at several factory-approved used cars from various dealers as well as taken a peek at CarCanada. So far we've test-driven a 2002 Civic (not bad, pretty nice small car) and a 2000 Jetta (looks darn sweet inside and out with a very decent price tag too... but unfortunately no CD player, no ABS, and felt a little underpowered...). We've been searching for a rare car... a used small japanese sedan with low mileage, auto. transmission, a decent colour, ABS, power package, and relatively recent year model... the inclusion of ABS has been the main problem since most small cars only come equipped with ABS on the upper models. The cars we've been looking at have been around the $15-18K price range... with a couple of 2000 models dipping to around $13-14K. What impressed me the most? Twas definitely the visit to the Mazda dealerships where I finally got to see the Mazda 3 up close and personal after reading about it and gawking over it for the past year... heheh. Know what? I was even more impressed with it sitting in the driver's seat... it is one SWEEET car, inside and out... with much more style, features, and power than the competition (ie. Civic, Corolla, Sentra, etc.). Interior with carbon-fiber trim, black leather, and 17-inch alloy rims on the outside of that thing... absolutely SIC. Too bad they cost around $25+K for a well-equipped one... :P boo. Apparently, they're selling like hot cakes too...and for good reason. Ah well... maybe we'll get one next year? *crossing fingers* heheh.
