Had dinner at Summerhays for some 25-cent honey-garlic wings goodness.... mmmm... soooo good. I went with Andrew and Denise and twas a fun study break. ... 'cept the two little bums left me with the leftovers... grr... that's like 11 whole wings! haha. Guess it'll be my midnight study munchies. :)
Also had a coffee break at Timmy Ho's last night with Karen and Andrew that was nice. Though I go to same school as my Zoo Crew, it's funny how I hardly ever seem 'em... So yeah, shout out to my Zoo Crew! Miss ya guys, good luck on your exams, and definitely looking forward to some fun times over the summer with those of you in town.
Recently also ran into a couple of high school friends at the Kanata DQ, Janice and Liana. Haven't seen 'em in over a year. Liana, I used to play alongside in string ensembles and musicale productions in high school... some fun violin times. Heheh... bow pokage... movie scores...pit band...1, 2, 3, [click!]... ah the memories. Man, can't remember the last time I picked up my violin..... wonder if I still remember how to play it. I love the instrument but just don't have the time to keep it up... it's one of those instruments that you need at least 3 hours a day invested into practise time... When I find time, I'm definitely hoping to go back to basics and get at least decent with the violin again. Heheh, gotta get the fundamentals back.... such a gorgeous instrument.
NBA playoff action kicks off tonight! woohoo! NOT good for my studying regiment... :P... Seems pretty evenly matched so I don't really have any particular favourite team to root for... though I definitely don't wanna see San Antonio or the Lakers win the championship. Title is hopefully up for grabs this year.
... still itching for a poker game... and now, thanks to Denise, also itching to play Eucre...heheh. After exams...
My NBA post-season award predictions:
* MVP: Kevin Garnett.
The guy has dominated, led, and has put together perhaps the most well-rounded game in the L. The stats are staggering... his averages are around 22 ppg, 14 rpg, and 5 apg, dominating on both ends of the court. He has stood out this year and deserves the award and recognition.
* Defensive Player of the Year: Ron Artest.
I'm sure Ben Wallace will probably take his 3rd DPOTY award, my vote's for Artest 'cause I believe he's laid down the toughest handcuffs and shackles in the L. Evidence of his defensive effectiveness? Round 1, Game 1, limits high-scorer Paul Pierce to 5 of 18 shooting and 8 turnovers. His toughness, aggressiveness, and demeanor have also allowed the Pacers to be one of the top teams in the L.
* Most Improved Player: Zach Randolph.
Hmm... lotsa names mentioned here. Several names come to mind like Ronald Murray, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Carlos Boozer, Zach Randolph, Manu Ginobili... my vote would be for Randoph. The kid made a huge jump to the starting position and emerged as Portland's best player, averaging 20 points and 10 boards. Potential all-star in this kid if he keeps it up and shows he can win.
* Rookie of the Year: TIE - Lebron James & Carmelo Anthony
In my book, they both deserve the ROTY award. I think it would be unfair to hand it out to one and not the other. Both players have had huge impacts on their teams, both have proved they can win games, and both have proved that they are mature enough to handle what the L will throw at them. LB23 has lived up to the hype and then some and he's proven he can lead a team, even at the young age of 19. He brings the all-round game, the excitement, athleticism to be one of the top players in the L for a long time.... if he doesn't suffer a big injury. Carmelo has proven he belongs in the L as well, leading the Nuggets to the playoffs for the first time in who knows how long. He brings more of a scorer's mentality and has definitely taken the league by storm.
* Coach of the Year: Hubie Brown.
I've been keeping an eye on the Grizzlies for a few seasons now... I've seen the potential in their young squad to be a good team for a while and their capabilities are finally starting to emerge. Finally a winning team this season after years of being the league's pit-dwellers, much is credited to the addition of coach Hubie Brown.
* Sixth Man of the Year: Manu Ginobili
Hmm... hard to call here. Most of the sixth man candidates are still playing starter minutes (30+ mpg). Couple of names catch my eye, like Ginobili and Antawn Jamison. Ginobili contributes lotsa energy and does a bit of everything on the court for the Spurs. Ginobili was leading the Spurs when Duncan was out and posted much better numbers at the start of the season. Jamison has been relegated to a bench role but has still be able to contribute scoring and rebounding for Dallas. And, of course, I always have a soft-spot for the 5-5 Earl Boykins, who's the little spark plug pg for Denver. Ginobili, I feel, affects the game the most off the bench, so he gets my vote.
